Jackie Haven, MS, RD

Bio

Jackie is currently a nutrition consultant, recently retired from an exemplary 34-year career at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Most recently, she served as the Deputy Administrator for the USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, leading USDA efforts on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, MyPlate communications, the National Strategic Partnership program, the U.S. Food Plans and the Healthy Eating Index.

Ms. Haven has dedicated her career to Federal service, benefiting her colleagues, staff, stakeholders and the public with her unique combination of leadership, technical expertise, creativity, and vision. Over her federal career, Ms. Haven has been instrumental in advancing national healthy eating symbols, specifically the Food Pyramid, which became part of food packages in multiple aisles of the grocery store nationwide and inspired other healthy eating pyramids around the world, and MyPlate, created to replace the Food Pyramid and launched by then-First Lady Michelle Obama.

Ms. Haven has championed healthy eating for better health in memorable, impactful ways that reflect her commitment and vision to driving innovation. She holds an M.S. degree in clinical nutrition from New York University and a B.A. in psychology and marketing from the State University of New York at Albany. She is a Registered Dietitian.
