Daniel Kibet

Daniel Kibet is a business founder of a social enterprise in Kenya working with rural smallholder farmers to improve their farm productivity and increase their farm revenues. He has a keen interest in problem-solving and rural community empowerment by utilizing his skills and acumen in business and economics. He is currently at The Fletcher School at Tuft’s university enrolled for the Master in International Business program. He is co-managing his agricultural startup business, Mashinani Farmers Initiative, in which he intends to improve the quality of life of rural farmers by introducing to them farm techniques that enable the farmers to maximize their productivity and increase farm incomes. Daniel was selected as a Watson fellow in 2019 after his undergraduate studies at Earlham College, Indiana. With the fellowship, he was able to explore successful, sustainable and resilient farming techniques across rural farming communities in East Africa. With the experience and knowledge obtained from this exploration, he hopes to teach and introduce to rural farmers farm production, crops, and skills that could enable them to improve on their farming occupation. After his graduate studies, Daniel will be seeking career opportunities in the field of agricultural development focusing on market analysis and policy implementation to make the agricultural sector in many emerging markets more profitable and productive. He hopes to champion towards eradicating hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.
