Rahul’s career in food and community work was spurred through mutual aid organizing during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic where they connected their neighbors in the Boston area to needed resources. They were also a FoodCorps service member serving in Chelsea, MA where they were a second-grade teacher in the Chelsea school district. In this position they worked with city, school district, and nonprofit leaders to bring about meaningful change in the broader Chelsea community. They led efforts to build Micro-pantries, school gardens, and a composting program in Chelsea area. They hope to center community empowerment and mutual aid in all their work. Rahul also holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Boston University and they have worked in Computational Biology at Mass General Brigham doing cancer research. They are currently pursuing a M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University.
